After the success of ‘This Train is Bound for Glory’ the band continue to nod a Yorkshire flat cap to the gospel greats with this cover of ‘Ain’t No Grave’. This is a traditional gospel track that has been recorded by legends such as Johnny Cash, Claude Ely and Sister Rosetta Tharp. The titles of the recordings have varied from “Gonna Hold This Body Down” to longer versions of the title line.
This version is also included on the EP ‘Light Up’ and has an accompanying video shot at St Robert’s Cave in Knaresborough, Yorkshire where some of the member used to spend childhood summers. It’s the perfect backdrop for this song with the remains of a chapel and alter in the backdrop as well as the cave entrance where St Robert lived in the 12th Century.
University of York Film and TV student, Rebecca Gallon, shot the video as one of her final year BA Honours projects.
